We're Back Home!

We are home! Our trip to the snowy mountains was wonderful! We received over two feet of snow while we were there. The weather kept us indoors more than we would have liked, but it sure was beautiful!
I think I may have posted these photos before, but they are some of my favorites so here they are again - both were taken from the front window of the house in Durango - if you can imagine it, this was before we received a new 15 to 20 inches...

One morning when we got up the temperature outside was -17˚; the temperature rarely (if ever) reached above 30˚ as a high. Even though it is clearly colder than in Lubbock, it feels warmer. In Lubbock when it reaches the 40’s it feels like it bites, I guess it is the added humidity and wind.

We did decide to take advantage of the snow while we had it – we bought two sleds and hit the slopes!

Austin sledding rodeo style

Austin and me.

Roy enjoying his ride while we look on from the background.

Papa and Austin - Mikaela and Bryce watching on the side.

Mikaela's boots were slick and she had a hard time climbing, so Austin decided he would pull her up... he gave up about half way.

Bryce enjoying his run.

Papa assisting Mikaela up the hill.

The perk is... he also gets to ride down so he can help her up again.

All in all, we had a great time sledding. Yesterday we found a run with a mogule that quite possible cracked my tailbone and most definitely rearranged a few vertebrae... I think dad and I were both feeling it this morning :-). Thanks for sledding with us Dad - the kids will never forget it!

While staying indoors, we had plenty of fun playing with Tucker (my cousins’ doggie whom we were doggie-sitting and whom my mom was spoiling like there was no tomorrow )…

good luck with him when you get him back Lynn and Michelle :-)!

And, Rego – my brothers’ doggie…

They are both a far cry from the St. Bernard that I want – but we enjoyed them :-).

Tomorrow we are heading to Dallas so Roy and Austin can go to the Cotton Bowl - we hope everyone has a safe and happy new year! Unless something notably amazing happens tomorrow - my next post will be in 2009!
