When It Rains, It Pours!

Literally! It has been drizzly off and on all week, but today it started raining and has been a down pour all day. We have received over 6 inches today. The streets are flooded and this is what our back yard looked like just prior to sunset…

And, to help you understand just how bad it is… LISD cancelled school for tomorrow!

But, at least we have not been evacuated from our home and the wind is not blowing down the walls (or blowing at all for that matter – strange for West Texas). Since I am a student at Univ. of Houston, my phone has been going nuts today with emergency notification emails, calls and text messages about campus closing and the evacuation procedure. Who am I to complain about simply… rain? May God bless all of the folks in Hurricane Ike’s path who have left their homes or are sticking it out and have plenty to be concerned about tonight.
